Tire Pressure Warning Light

^ Factory pressure is 32/30.
OP, I believe the manual states that pressure needs to be 15 or 25% below recommended, but I don't remember which. 15% = ~5psi, 25% = ~8psi.
There are also two different indicators. A tire with an "!" indicates low pressure. A "TPMS" light indicates a system malfunction, typically a sensor battery.

Well my friend with an 05 came out to start the car and saw the " tire with the (!)" symbol warning for low tire pressure, but when checked only the left front was down at 26psi, which is out by 6psi for 32 recommended. Other cars seem to only light this warning when down by 10psi or more so I was curious what the trigger is on the RL

32-8 = 24.
32-5=27.
if the threshold is 28, wouldnt those two examples be over? thus setting off the light.

No. My numbers were the thresholds. 28 would not trip either. 28-30 is too close to the stock 32/30 front/rear. Even 27 is too close which is why I am leaning toward 25%.
EDIT: The 2005 RL manual doesn't state the percentage like I thought. I may be thinking of the 2009 Civic manual.

When I still owned our 06RL, we once had a low tire pressure warning in winter and it was indeed 26 psi when we checked the pressure. So my data point is consistent with the OP's.
Also, once when I spoke to a Lexus tech after installing winter tires on my convertible, he told me he set the warning for 27 psi or lower ( recommended pressure on my convertible is 34 ).
So 007's 25% feels about right - or even 20%.

My TL is different, it trips the light at 28-30PSI.
the 4th gen TL trips the light at 28PSI.
I assumed it would be in the general range.
Some one go test it and let the air out.
I wanna know if im right or if doubleohsevenspy is.

I drive a RWD 4.7L V8.
I would be surprised if it's 28, but I am getting less confident with every post in this thread.

I always thought the TPMS was triggered when there was a difference of 20 or 25% pressure between tires.

Holy shit! Just realized Heavy was running 40+ psi.
Either give up on 27 mpg avg or don't pickup so many hookers.

It was about -10 degrees in Denver the last two days. My tires dipped all the way down to 25psi and I did not get a low tire warning. I know on my wife's '07 TL it would have popped on long before that. For what it's worth, I have a tech model that used to have PAX tires on it so it may vary from non-tech RL's.
