I'm guessing he got the cams from GreekPower.

Okay I've been hearing the story on this from my acuralegend.org bretheren. Since a link from Jen made it there I decided to check this out for myself. I'm doing a 6 speed 3.5 swap into my 94 GS Legend. I see you also have your "mad scientist". You may have seen I'm The Mad Scientist over there in Legend world. Anyway a few pointers that may crossover from a Legend to a TL. You'll need to use your engine mount on the Legend manual transmission bracket. Also I did have spacers made for that gap when mounting a Legend manual transmission to a 3.5 RL engine. I'll also recommend making a block plate to go where you remove your automatic shifter mechanism because heat will come into the cabin from the transmission. Hopefully one of the transmissions you got also came with the heat mat Acura made for manual Legends. Good to hear ever sold you his goodies and it came with a transmission spacer mount. Trust me we've had some "concerns" in the past getting working spacers manufactured. I'm curious to know if you plan to use the Type II Legend valve train in your engine in addition to the cams and intake manifold you're using. I could mention a number of other things but my mind isn't at its freshest right now. I'll be watching your progress along with some other "shady" legend.org members. j/k

Custom Bracket and Spacer
Thank you for your input 94LegendaryAcuraGS!!!! It is much appreciated. Great to meet you. Yeah, I've read a few of your post on the acuralegend.org. You guys over there are awesome. I was able to take advantage of sr5guy's "Mounting Bracket Core Exchange Program"... I pulled a bracket from a 3.2 and 3.5 from PnP and sent it to him and gotten his modified mounting bracket very quickly... Great Program he has. I'm just waiting on 2 of my "top secret" parts to come in and I have everything. Block and Tranny are together and engine bay is gutted out to be cleaned. This weekend we are taking out the dash and figuring out how are we going to do this cutting and drilling on the firewall... I never thought about the block plate between the tranny, shifter, and cabin.. Thanks for the heads up. I need to hurry and get this all together because school is about to start and when it does... it will really slow me down. Any way you can take pics of your firewall (with empty engine bay) and send them to me thru PM or email?

Well my engine is back in the car and we're waiting for one of my "top secret" parts to arrive. Not to mention the not so efficient painter on my valve covers to return my unused paint so I can finish touching up items in the engine bay and complete connecting all my wiring and fire this monster of mine up! Were you looking for pictures of where we drilled out the firewall to mount the clutch master cylinder? If so I have pics of that in my build thread. Empty engine bay pics are here: http://forums.acuralegend.org/mad-sc...-t28124p8.html Pics of the drilled firewall for the master are here: (plus my 3.5 serial number ) http://forums.acuralegend.org/mad-sc...t28124p21.html

Good by 3.2 and Automatic
--------------------------
It was pretty damn heavy!!!! Glad that we only have to do that once with the auto tranny. Hopefully, the 6Spd won't be as difficult to put back in and taken out later for painting.
Next, Purple Power, flat blade, and a brush. The several hours of cleaning can be started.

It's not Steven Spielberg, and I did not have enough money for the CGI effects. I'm not expecting to see an Oscar from this... haha

Interior Out and Test Fit!!!
------------------------
Good bye Automatic stuff...
------------------------
Rust... You westcoast boys gotta hate the sea.
------------------------
Got the pedals looking good. Hopefully, rust resistant.
------------------------
Gas and brake pedals fit well!!!! Simple modification to get it to fit.
Clutch Pedal is goin' to require some tough modification/fabrication. Damn, was hoping to keep Cruise Control.

Wow, that is a lot of work! Ok, I need someone to clarify the info. for me because I need an engine replacement ASAP. I just fell the emission test here in Cali because of the blue smoke out of the muffler. I have a 96 RL and want to replace the engine with a newer engine from 99-04. So the 99-04 engine is basically the same as the 96-98 engine right? Everything will fit perfectly? And I also need the ECU from a 99-04 model as well. Thanks.

Two Types of C35A

Yeah, it's a bit of a task. I can't help you too much on the emission thing. I live in Arkansas where we don't have emission laws or CEL or EPA whatever. We haven't had car inspections since the early to mid 90s . We can throw a Hayabusa engine in a civic and tag it. Hell, we can burn anything from cow chips to vegetable oil to anything short of Plutonium... lol. There are dudes out here that I've seen drive on the back roads with thick black smoke coming from the exhaust as if they are the 1983 version of Spy Hunter (an old arcade game for you young cats reading).
But, from what I've read... the 1st gen RL 3.5 (C35A) had two versions. The 1996 - 2001 and the 2002 - 2004. So, i guess the answer to your question is no due to the 2002-2004's variable silencer the gave it "more hp". As far as size and fitting, i'm think it the same.

Thanks all for the great information. Here in Cali, they are really strict on emission and I have to say my game with the RL is over I plan to sell the car and buy a new car. I saw a couple of RL around my area for sale but the mileage is pretty high. Anyway, I'm probably getting a new Civic or TSX, I need some thing good with MPG because I travel a lot. My RL on the other hand is getting 18 combine lol. I'll missed her.

New Rack and Pinion
Hell, might as well change the Rack & Pinion while the steering, engine, & tranny is out... at this point, its a plug n play.

Old one back into the package to get ship back off to get the core $.
Online parts are so much cheaper.

Great progress bro!
Not sure about your timeline as it stands, but if you have some time, you can probably send your shifter and console plate (just the woodgrain piece) to Holyabish on acuralegend.org and he'll make you a custom shift boot. Any color and stitching you want!
I've bought some stuff from him and he does quality work at very fair prices!

Chasing The Horizon
Great thread! I see all the Legend owners are flocking over here to watch.
To correctly answer your very first question (even though your build is way past this point!), this power increase is due to both a revised upper intake manifold and a new muffler design that had a variable exhaust path controlled by a flap. Everything else remained the same.
Looking forward to your progress!

Will be using the Legend Type II heads... Greekpower's old heads that he had modified and improved... I just have to go in there with an air gun and make sure it is thoroughly clean out due to shipment...Clutch will be worked on after December... But we do have a plan... Completely cut out a square on the firewall and weld another piece on it to compliment the clutch...
