Best brake pads

Greetings all,

I was wondering what are the best brake pads to use. Is it best to purchase from the dealer or can you recommend a quality independent supplier. Thanks.

Anything from Autozone will work just fine, but don't get the cheap one safety first.

IIt's a matter of how you drive. If your lazy and take your time any "upper level" parts store brand will work. But if you want real stopping power go with some HAWK brand pads. They will run you more $$$ but the car WILL stop, NOW.

i have always loved the oem/nissin or ATE pads for daily driving

but i do a considerable amount of "spirited" driving too, so i tried the Hawk HPS pads which is the street pad, just below their track pads... GREAT stopping power once warmed up, make a lil noise first thing in the AM, and dust up the wheels quite considerably, but its the price to pay for good stopping power...

i like Akebono pads. They stop on a dime, low dust, last long.

I got the higher end GOLD pads from Autozone since they are lifetiem warranty and said little brake dust... i plan to upgrade the pads to something better and install new rotors as well.

we'll see what happens.

LOL, me too, I just installed Duralast Gold max and its rotor from autozone. It looks a lot thicker then the OEM and stopping is great.

The stopping is fine... the brake dust is okay.. but i expected better.
I'm also looking into slotted and drilled rotors and something to do with the calipers now as well for a fun project. and figured I'd upgrade the pads as well... Still looking though.

But at least with the wheels i have, i used the wheel cleaner and ZAINO on them and the dust washes of easily and no problems, but... we'll see.
