Sorry to be blunt here but you need to do more research or go to a local stereo shop.

So what exactly is the nav tool good for then?
Just the back up camera
Honestly you need to research the product better.
Is there not an all in one system that provides audio and video?
No
Does the USAspec only have an IPOD adapter?
No, you can use RCAs too, see above
I don't own any APPLE products and refuse to buy any.
No to the all in 1 that I know of.
If you dont own apple prods, then you need to research a bluetooth adapter solution

So I just picked up a navtool. As far as cameras are considered the mentioned ebay seller has two different variations now.

One has the CCD chip and is $59.99

http://www.ebay.com/itm/140964984984...84.m1438.l2649

and the other one is CMOS chip and is 23.99

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-General-CMOS-NTSC-Car-Backup-Rear-View-Guide-Line-Color-Reverse-Camera-/140964984090?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20d22af51a
Heavy, can you chime in please and indicate which one you have? I did some research and CCD chip camera is better, as usually higher price would indicate. I just want to make sure I am getting the right one that would work with the navtool and an 05 RL, TIA.

I'm 99% sure its this one:

Finally got the camera and navtool in hand now.

A few questions though, questions are in bold

The navtool is the updated model I guess and the wiring set up is a bit different. As everything is incorporated into one harness rather than having the power plug being separate from the main harness.

There are 5 wires beside the two video in plugs.

Red wire : +12V accessory input. This one will be going in the wire from the XM box shown in your original post?
Black wire: Ground to the chassis. (correct me if i am wrong)
Gray wire: Handbrake (not using this)
Orange wire : Reverse light input?
yellow wire: Push button (not using this as well)

For the camera

There is the video ouput wire, which will be getting connected to video 2 in the navtool.

Then there is pair of power wires, positive will be going to the reverse light power output?
Black wire will go to the chassis ground.

Then there is another wire dangling from the video output wire, its red in color as the pictures show, any idea whats this for?

I pulled this from here:

http://www.navtool.com/manual_NAVRGB+HA20.pdf

Red wire : +12V accessory input.
This one will be going in the wire from the XM box shown in your original post?
Correct, or any "key on" power source.

Black wire: Ground to the chassis. (correct me if i am wrong)
yes, make sure you use a bolt or a bare metal surface.

Gray wire: Handbrake (not using this)
Correct.

Orange wire : Reverse light input?
Correct.

yellow wire: Push button (not using this as well)For the camera
Correct.

There is the video ouput wire, which will be getting connected to video 2 in the navtool.
Correct.

Then there is pair of power wires, positive will be going to the reverse light power output?
Black wire will go to the chassis ground.
Correct.

Then there is another wire dangling from the video output wire, its red in color as the pictures show, any idea whats this for?
I dont see mention of this in the instructions, my guess would be its a boost for the signal, I would not use it at this point unless you have issues.
Ensure good grounds, not just jumper wires.

^^ Thank you so much

I just hooked up the camera to a 12v battery pack I have, plugged in the output to the TV and it works just fine without that extra wire being connected to anything.

I should have everything installed before the end of the day .

I was just logging in to check on ya LoL..

The chrome was a nice touch, you will get used to the lines especially when parallel parking.

and I can tell you love your car by the little foam plate pads hahaha.

Thanks yet again for all your help.

Believe it or not, thats how the car came, I didnt install them or anything

I actually bought the camera that you linked me to, only to realize later that it is color during day time and is black and white at night due to the video sensor chip that is used. Had to return it to the seller and get the CCD chip sensor one which is $65. After I made the purchase the seller said that he only has the chrome ones, which I was fine with as it matches the chrome strip on the trunk plus the bumper garnish.

Here is the camera that I ended up using.

Yessir, just compared the camera results from the RL and the '13 odyssey OEM back up camera and the results are pleasantly better than Ody.

BTW, how long does it take for the nav to reacquire gps signal? I am seeing that "acquiring gps signal, wait 10 min" screen.

I know I plugged in all the plugs that were behind the nav disc player, do all of them only fit in their designated slots only? Just need to make sure I didnt accidentally plugged one of them in the wrong slot.

I'll give it a shot today as I havent really driven the car at all since the install.

yeah before you pull it down I would reset it at the battery and then take it for a drive.
That signal can be picky

I have what might be a dumb question. I have an 08 RL and have swapped out the compass dvd drive with an 06 drive and added a backup camera. Now my question is how can I get the parking guidelines on the backup camera without any mods. Is there a camera I can buy and "plug and play" with the original OEM equipment? Thanks in advance.

there are quite a few options, the ones listed on this site work well.

Also a google search for "backup camera with guidelines" will net other choices.

Ok! heavy I've decided to go with the ccd camera on eBay for $59. My only concern is that is has an RCA type plug. Will that be compatible with the OEM setup in the vehicle without adding nav tool or any other after market adapter?

@HEAVY_RL

My Legend has factory Navi but it's never used. Honda has no maps for Turkey

I want to use a interface.
Do you think does it fit to my car?

I just got my Navtool unit yesturday. The two connectors that have tape that say do not connect behind the screen...

Can these be plugged on the front end behind the radio as opposed to in the Nav unit located in the trunk? I dont have XM and I have an OEM Camera that I am going to continue to use. I want to try but dont want to fry anything. Can anyone shed some light?

I think you're the first one to attempt this. I can't really offer much assistance either because I'm assuming there's no wiring diagram listed for what those brown wires are going into the harness. Probably by design. I say give it a shot and if it doesn't work you can always replace it

If I don't have XM, where is a good place to get power for the navtool? There is nothing convenient. I might have to run to the console or all the way to the front?

you need a remote wire, I would pull it from the amp on the passenger side of the trunk.

Desired outcome: Video to NAV screen (Keeping OEM reverse cam as is)

So Im pulling power from the Navigation harness and grounded to a bolt on the of the trunk behind the carpet. I think the same one you grounded to Heavy. But I dont know if I have it set up right.

Here is what the instructions say;

Red Wire: +12V Accessory power input, do not connect to +12V constant power.
An accessory wire will show +12V when the key is in the accessory and run positions. It will not show +12V during the
cranking.
Always use a fuse within 12 inches of the point you obtain +12V accessory power.

Black Wire: chassis ground connection.
We recommend that you do not use a factory ground. Ground all your components to the same point in the vehicle. Scrape
away any paint and use a factory bolt or make your own ground with a self‐tapping screw and a star washer.

Gray Wire: emergency brake input also known as foot brake or handbrake; gray wire must rest at ground in order for Video 1
to operate, reverse camera will activate automatically when vehicle is placed in reverse on Video 2 regardless of gray wire
being connected to emergency brake.

Orange Wire: reverse light input, reverse light wire shows +12V when vehicle is shifted into reverse, if back‐up camera is not
going to be installed or vehicle is already equipped with a factory camera DO NOT connect Orange wire.

Yellow Wire: push button input switch, supplied push button switch is used to switch between Video 1, Video 2 and initial
display.

This is what I've done;

Red wire: tapped into Pin 1 on Nav Connector C (+12V) [cross referenced with service manual]

Black wire: Ground to inside frame

Gray wire: untouched as it was out of the box (unconnected)

Orange wire : Untouched as it was out of the box (unconnected)

yellow wire: wired to switch on one end and ground (same location as black wire) on other [as per the instructions]

Now I think this is how it is supposed to be wired. Is there any way I can tell that I am getting power to the Navtool? I turn on the car and wait for the nav screen to engage and show the map. I press the button once, twice, hold for 2 seconds and nothing happens?

A) Do I have it set up correctly?

B) How does the Navtool work? If I hit a button should it engage and show vid1 or vid 2?

so... I will have to do a little research, but vid 2 should be back up and the 12v should only come on when in reverse not constant and the vid 1 should be aux with a on off switch to ground not a "push and hold" switch.

see if this info works for ya while I look for a diagram.

I think I found your issue:

http://www.navtool.com/manual_LAN+TL.pdf

Gray Wire: please connect this wire to emergency brake also known as foot brake or handbrake, gray wire must see ground
to activate Video 1, reverse camera will activate automatically when vehicle is placed in reverse on video 2 regardless of
gray wire being connected to emergency brake. <- Make this a switch to ground for on the fly vids

Orange Wire: connect orange wire to reverse light wire, reverse light wire is the wire that gets 12v when vehicle is shifted in reverse,
if no reverse camera is being installed or vehicle already comes with a factory camera installed DO NOT connect Orange wire.
When installing NavTool on German vehicles relay must be installed, please see below: Connect 85 of relay to ground, connect 86 of relay
to reverse light, connect pin 30 of relay to accessory power, connect pin 87 of relay to Orange wire from NavTool Interface, you may also
connect 87 of relay to accessory power for back up camera. If camera is desired to be viewed while vehicle is moving forward, connect
cameras power wire to accessory power in the vehicle.

Push button switch: supplied Push button switch is used to switch between Video 1, Video 2 and original navigation screen.
Connecting supplied push button switch: connect one side of toggle switch to ground and connect other side of push button switch to
yellow wire of NavTool interface. Operating NavTool interface via push button: momentary press will cycle between Video 1 and
Video 2, pressing and holding push button for more than 2 seconds will bring back original navigation/information screen.

That was one of the threads I looked at. I already have a reverse cam and just want the vid 1 input. To activate vid one it should be a push of the button, push again for vid 2 and push/hold for 2 sec to get back to OEM screen. I cant get anything one. I gronded the grey wire with the others.

Good news!! I got it up and running. I checked the grounds and tested the power and low and behold no power was going to Navtool. I checked the tap and secured it and a blue LED came on which looks like its behind the connector. Anyways, I went in the car and pressed the button and to my delight Video 1 displayed, pressed it again and Reverse cam screen came on. Held the button down for 2 seconds and OEM Nav screen came on. So, I'm in business. Thanks for all the help!!

hey there, thanks for the reply, I'm trying to install a navtool, and I've got everything wired up right, for simplicity of wiring until I was ready, I was using a jet ski battery in the trunk to make sure everything works. Now that I'm ready to do the wiring, i was using a led light to check for a good ground by attaching positive to battery and grounding negative, I can't get anything to light up. Led light still works everytime when going to negative of battery, so i'm pretty confused
