Rear Tag/License Plate Mounting

This drove me nuts with my 06 and continues to drive me nuts with my 2012...what screws/bolts are made that actually are the right size to properly attach the rear plate at the BOTTOM, so you don't get that annoying rattle/"slap" sound when closing the trunk? Local dealer here had nothing and only ever uses the top bolts to mount the plate, which yields the slap/rattle.

Doesn't work - they are too long and the bolt hole fittings mounted to the trunk lid at the bottom have a center "hole" in each that doesn't even appear to be threaded (they are almost more like plastic spacers on each side where the lower bolts should go, between the trunk lid and the plate).

understood now.

I would find, maybe adhesive rather than a bolt.
you could probably line the whole backside of the plate with 3M double sided tape(or any other automotive double sided tape) and just stick it on.

and since the top is bolted, there's NO chance of the adhesive coming off.
that would solve the rattle

3m tape or a strip of foam... stereo shops have been using it for years.

Yeah double sided 3M just on each of the bolt "spacers" or whatever might do the trick. Can't go too crazy with it as the plate/tag stays me if the car is ever sold or traded LOL

I slapped a square of Dynamat on the back of my plate since my two 12" subs took the rattle to a whole new level.
