New shoes for my RL today :) and more

I bought a set of factory wheels but in chrome from LA Wheels (or something like that) on eBay. It was $750 and included one way shipping. Took about 2 weeks to get the wheels to me but WELL worth the wait. They look amazing! Especially nice on the White Pearl body. I looked at other aftermarket wheels, even the A-Spec wheels, but liked these best. When I was RL shopping a few weeks back, I saw a blue RL with the chromes and fell in love (I'm not usually a chrome guy) but the stock RL chromes look awesome!

One day I'll wash the car and take photos. Also, I got my center armrest recovered since my old ones looked like butt (all bubbled; separate thread for that).

Also, I found a junk yard with a 09 RL center console (wood, cup holder AND arm rest...). All that should be in next week, so I'll upgrade the center console from the 05-08 plastic one, to the 09 woodgrain one. Since I have the whole thing, maybe I can use the 09 heated seat buttons and not have to trim so much.

While I'm at it, I'll also use the 09 extra padded armrest and sell my recently (lol, yesterday) recovered armrest.

Last week I got the wood shift knob on ebay for about $50 (brand new).

I also replaced my rear cupholder (jammed), navigation's "ENTER" button (missing paint) and my rear AC vents (missing tab). Almost a new car. Oh yeah, and I bought the 2010 Nav disc for $149 from NavTeq.

All that's left is some Megan Coilovers, intake, j-pipe one day and the wood steering wheel (may even replace me Acura logo on the airbag while I'm at it.

Sounds like I've spent a ton on the RL, but not really.

wow - you've done a lot of improvements in a short time! you must be enjoying the car!

what did you pay for the 09+ center console /armrest piece? that would be a nice upgrade as the wood on the center piece makes the ca rlook muchm ore upscale...

that piece, plus the wood shifter and steering wheel would make the RL's interior look sweet... that is one of the things i really like about the newer RL's.... sasme interior but more upscale and classy looking..

if I don't end up upgrading into a new TL... i'd give a LONG hard look to a CPO 09-11 RL... i'll bet in a couple years they will be giving those away... they look hot just dropped on OEM wheels wiht a tail..

good luck with your RL.. post up some pics!!!

and let me know what you paid for that console and how hard was it to put in? since you got the whole console..did it just pop in...?? i know there is a thread on here somewhere where another member bought the wood trim pieces...but it was not plug n play... there was stuff that had to be cut/trimmmed, teh cigarette lighter/AC socket had to be moved,e tc. it looked great in the end. but the install looked like a PITA....

thanks!

The stock chrome does look good... congrats on scoring the console, I would replace all the little lights in it while its apart since we know they like to blow.

Let me know if you want to sell your old console, I need a few parts like the lock for the black cover in front of the shifter.

here's what I got, its for a grey interior (mine is beige), so I cant swap the whole thing over. i think there's only 3 things that need to be trimmed normally on the conversion 1. the left side of the console 2. the trim around the lighter plug and 3. the heated seats bezel to reuse your old switches. maybe I can skip #3 though and just reuse the 09 switches (dont see why not). I paid $150 for the whole thing, shipped there is a tiny scratch by the passenger heated seat button, otherwise perfect. but even if the scratch is too ugly, i still paid less for the whole thing than just the cost of the cupholder shipped.

plus it came with the 09 armrest, so I'll just recover it in beige to match my interior and have the newer armrest

So you had to send them your wheels right? Essentially you traded your wheels for chrome ones and paid $750. Or you chromed your wheels for $750. Would it cost that much to have them chromed somewhere else?

basically traded my stock wheels for their new chrome wheels for $750. no down time, they shipped me new wheels, I returned my old ones after installing the new ones (there was a $700 core charge)

if I dump $$ on wheels, i'm going with 18s or 19s... but your car looks nice.

add a lip spoiler...it looks better with it.. IMHO..

nice ride. enjoy!

These are real tripple chrome rims not like A-specs! Very easy to clean.
