Acuralink

Is there supposed to be a free subscription for several months after purchase?

Don't the Connect and Premium packages seem pricey for what you get?

Definitely wouldn't be worth it to me.

Just subscribed for the free 90 day trial of the premium service. Went to website to check vehicle status etc - it is slooow

Kind of cool though
Shows you door locked status, oil life, odometer, headlights on/off (thought they go off automatically no matter what), and gas level by % with range

It is cool but pricey.

One situation where it came in real handy was during a huge electronic music festival I went to in late summer last year here south of Atlanta (TomorrowWorld). Massive festival, massive outside parking. Once we decided to leave (at around 2am at night) it was practically impossible to try and remember exactly where we parked. Although we had a very general idea of the area, lost in a sea of well over 2000-3000 cars, at night, it was going to be impossible to remember exactly what row we were in.

problem solved. I whipped out my iPhone, pulled up the AcuraLink Connect app, and sent the remote command to start flashing the lights and honking the horn....sure enough...we heard her. probably about a good 800ft-1000ft away hidden amongst a never-ending row of cars.

It depends.

I made the mistake in the trial period of using the concierge a little bit.

But now that I've got billed for 348.00 annual charge, I'm thinking....not so much! LOL....

Where the concierge has come in the most handy for me is when I need detailed information about directions or hotels, in situations where I'm driving fast enough that it's hard to concentrate on speaking precisely for the AcuraLink, but the concierge understands me just fine.

I've been living in Virginia for so long that I think that I have said "for" but Siri thinks it has heard, and will type "fur" or it will not understand the Tidewater pronunciation of "for" as "fowuh"...it's maddening.

Very embarrassing. We have no final G, and no monosyllables in the middle of Virginia. :-)

I can still affect Received Standard or Mid Atlantic actor's English when I want, but my natural pattern has turned into some kind of Tidewater.

Because of the location of the microphone and the housing around it, if you are driving on the Interstate at speed, you will have trouble with both AcuraLink and Siri, but not with the concierge, because the concierge is processing with his or her mind in analogue mode and makes adaptations instantly.

If that makes sense.

If you sound like that, concierge will be very helpful.

Government = gummint

House = HA-ouse

Receiving = ruh-CEIV-un

We are why there is a concierge and a representative setting. :-)

The only use I have had for it is to send a destination from my computer to the navigation. That is a little helpful. Have to go to accuralink website. It would be better if I could send it straight from Google Maps. My android phone automatically gets any destinations I look up on my computer, which I like.

When I tried to remotely honk the horn, it went off 15 times, very loud. That seems a little obnoxious for me. The headlights did not flash, only the parking lights.
