Seat has trouble containing me

It seems like the part of my seat closest to the door, the part that usually gets the most wear and tear, is wearing out and bothering me.

It ain't horrible, but I get bummed out when I check out the passenger seat in the same area and it's stiff as a... and it bothers me so much in an attempt to not make it worse I will position myself more so to the right side of the seat a little bit..

Anyway, would applying some real good leather conditioner every so often improve it or what?

And also, it's not like terrible, like some fat ass has been coming down on the edge of the seat everyday for a couple years, but I have pretty bad OCD.

Thanks.

When I had my 93 & 95 Legend Coupes, I had the same problem with both. I tried the leather conditioner route first with moderate success but the problem was that it became like using chapstick - once you start using the leather conditioner you must continue consistently otherwise the leather will crack & dry even worse.

Ultimately, I ended up going to a upholstry install shop and had them match the leather and then pull out the bad part and stitch back in the new piece - may not work with the perforated leather of the RL, depending exactly where the most wear & tear is, but if I remember correctly, that part closest to the door is just a solid non-perforated piece.

Also, are your windows tinted? I've def found that the heat of direct sunlight is a real killer on the leather and the part you mention always wears out first

I had the same issue in my RL. The bolster in that same area was more wrinkled than elsewhere. I had to adjust the way I entered and exited the car to avoid more wear.

I thought the thread was going to be about gaining weight!

Bob I tricked you, ha! I know what you mean about "adjusting the way you enter and exit the car" and I always feel like an idiot, but I'm trying to prevent more damage lol.

I may go find a place to just re-bolster the side of the seat at a later date. The rest of the seat is great, just the side, which isn't preforated or anything, so it should be a simple fix if it comes down to it...

I've actually not done much work as far as conditioning the leather and so forth, but my windows are tinted... I'm thinkin of changing the tint to 15/20% all around rather than 20 on the back and 35 on the sides, which is what I got. That way the sunlight would really not be too much of a factor...

Oh well... I think I also kinda wanted to make a thread with this title, kinda made me

The bolster nearest the door on my 07 is doing the same thing and the fabric between the foam cushion and leather is bunching up. Like Bob, the bolster is more wrinkled in that area.

Dealer ordered a new seat cover and I am dropping the car off tonight to be fixed(I hope!)
