Is the 2009 offset = 2006 offset

Is the wheel offset on the 2009 OEM RL wheel the same as the 2006? Is it a bolt-on replacement?

Also, will the center hubs from the 2006 wheel fit the 2009 (and are they the same color)?

I'm getting closer to wanting this:

I'm being offered $2200 (installed) pricing on a set of new 2009 wheels and tires (equipped with Michelin Pilot MXM4). I'd have to use my own TPMS and supply the center caps (or buy them).

The alternative is $2700 (installed) for A-Spec wheels with Pilot A/S. I'm just not sure about the more aggressive tire on the A-Spec, while I've been decently happy with the OEM Michelins.

I may someday want the body kit, which further complicates things....

If that is what you like then go ahead but let me tell you that for 2200 dollars you can get a hell of alot better wheels tires with tpms sensors in em. you can probably get some 19's that are light enough to be compareble to stcok for that price if not 20's.

I'm not sure what exactly you are going for look wise but a set of used 09+ RL rims or Aspec's can be had for alot less than 2200.

Keep that in mind and shop around before you splurge.

The answer is yes, the 2006 offset=2009 offset at +55 mm

You can do a lot better than that with wheels off of ebay, buying your own TPMS and tires.

The Pilot Sport AS are a good choice. You will never look back to your OEMs

Currently a set of 09 take off wheels starts at $600

I'm just not an aftermarket "wheeler", and I don't want 19's. It may cost more, but I'm more comfortable going OEM with things like this (I've got a history of it, in fact, though usually at better prices than I'm facing here). Plus, you get dealer/factory warranty and backing should anything go awry.

Back in the day, I upgraded my '88 Legend Coupe from the painted wheels to the snazzier machined-finish wheels taken off an '89.

My '84 Prelude had the OEM alloys instead of the steel-with-plastic wheel covers.

And I was able to get take-off wheels for my '95 Legend to swap out some curb-rashed wheel and create a full-size spare.

If push comes to shove, I think the A-Spec wheel would be the winner. I'd be interested to see where there's much better pricing on the A-Spec set -- the best I've seen is on ebay at about $2500 (not installed). Local dealers I've spoken to wanted varying amounts over $3000 for these.

Curry Acura sells a set of A-Spec for 1850 with centercaps and TPMS. Call to make sure
http://www.curryacuraparts.com/alloywheels.html

Check other internet acuradealers. You can then purchase and mount the tires at a place of your choice. Make sure to use tape weights so as not to ruin that finish.

What are the definitive finishes for the RL's A-Spec wheels?

I've seen Chrome, Chrome-look, gunmetal, and ebony tossed around.

The pictures on the Curry site (and ebay for that matter) are not too helpful.

Well, this has been sort of a mystery to me....

Over the years, I have seen references to colors as “Sparkle Silver”, "Chrome Look", "Ebony" and "Gunmetal"

The on-line parts catalog refers to the following:

Chrome Look (2005, 2006, 2007 P/N 08W18-SJA-200A)
Chrome Look (2006, 2007 P/N 08W18-SJA-203A)
Ebony Black (2007, 2008 P/N 08W18-SJA-203B)

Could not find any catalog references to "Sparkle Silver" and “Gun Metal”. Maybe Curry elects to call "Ebony" color "Gun Metal", because I understand the Ebony wheels are not purely black as you might imagine, but more of a dark gray metal color (as in gun metal!).

I suppose it is also possible that those colors did exist, but that Del Rey Acura no longer stocks them or has access to them. Del Rey has the friendliest site.

Somebody want to check the e-store on line?

Can anyone decipher the Acura part number codes for 200A, 203A and 203B?

Did some more research along the lines of Chas2.

I think for the RL, there are just 2 choices today: Chrome with part# -203a and ebony part# -203b. Odd that ebony black would not be considered for the 2006 car?

I think the early wheels are -200a and might not have come with TPMS. Believe it or not, there are also variant part numers for Hawaii cars.

Chrome seems to be chrome plated, although the Acura website notes they have a paint process that makes it look like chrome. On the other hand, I see Chrome-look wheels on ebay that are clearly just chrome plated.

The ebony wheels have lighter-colored spokes and darker insets.

Gunmetal, which I haven't seen for RL A-Specs, is a painted surface that had a muted, almost matte, metal-flake finish. I'd say it is a lighter hue, and maybe more yellowish than the ebony.

If the ebony wheels look like this, http://i9.ebayimg.com/04/i/000/db/89/78c9_2.JPG then that's what I'm leaning towards.

The 2009 wheels in my photo-shop just won't do it (sorry 037). By the way, the 2009 ebay take-off wheels went for $910.

Over on another board, the TL wheels in this photo are Chrome, Satin, Sparkle Silver. http://www.bellonsales.com/DeleteMe/a-spec_tl_3.JPG

The owner of this TL says his A-Spec wheel is gunmetal (but it looks like sparkle silver to me). http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...L/IMG_1978.jpg, as does this fellow: http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...b/PICT2136.jpg

I'm supposed to go look at a picture at the dealership to see if its what I'm looking for.

Good research! And I would agree that there are only two choices today.

However, the -203A and -203B wheels will fit the 2006 car, as would the 2009 wheels.

Here's some more info I've learned.

I believe that there are A-Spec wheels, probably in the so-called satin finish.

Then there's the accessory wheels, which come in chrome-look and ebony. These are the same style as the A-Spec wheel, but in a different finish.

My dealer has a line on some ebony wheels, but I think I have to ask to see one before giving the go-ahead.

If anone can link to a picture of their car with the wheels, and identify the type of 18" accessory or A-Spec wheel, that would really help (neuronbob, especially).

I found neuronbob's cardomain link -- if only I could enlarge the pix! Those could be my next wheels.

Well, I'm pulling the trigger on ebony A-Spec wheels with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires. My biggest concern is reports of reduced fuel mileage with these tires (the RL can't take anymore hits to MPG).

Will post impressions later.

Everything in tires, as in life, is a compromise.

Look at the skinny, tires that go on hybrid cars. They are optimized for high mpg by design, including the narrow section which positively impacts the Cd.
