2020 RDX Sunroof TSB 23-004

I have seen new TSB 23-004. I have a stupid pop sound on every bump from rear back - a while ago was told by a dealer it was a sunroof. At that time the only remedy was to replace whole sunroof and dealer said the issue was not fixable by doing that. Now, they admit this TSB should fix a popup sound. They replace a frame.

I wonder if anybody did that TSB - I assume they rip off whole celling. I wonder if they later put pieces together like in the factory. Is this worth it ?

I need advice.

I mentioned to dealer that I hear occasional pop when turning into uneven surface. This was after TSB was issued, got standard "could not reproduce". Its an expensive job and requires removal of entire sunroof. Many hours job. They will try to avoid doing work unless the issue is really bad.

I have a 2021 Advance and the sunroof popped since day 1 when the vehicle body flexed or hits a bump. I finally made an appointment last week with the dealer and showed them the TSB for the sunroof popping. They replaced the sunroof frame and has been good ever since. It was replaced under warranty. While it was $0 cost to me, I had to sign the invoice for the work and it was over $2k if I had to pay out of pocket.

I'm not sure if they tried to reproduce it. I didn't notice if they test drove it. Mine was easy to reproduce as I live in a hilly area that causes the body to flex frequently along with bumps/potholes on shitty NY roads. The popping noise was a daily occurrence with my RDX and worse in the winter. At a minimum, the dealer should start by doing a mounting bolt retourque before replacing the frame as documented in the TSB. Mine was under warranty still, so they had to do it.

When you all hear the popping noise is it when the sunroof is closed, open or both?

I just got a ‘21 and so far I only hear it when I have it in vent mode but not when closed. I haven’t really used it fully open.

Called me dealer, they are very well aware and will cover it under warranty. I have bumper to bumper coverage until Nov. ‘25 so there is no rush to get it done as it seems the only “real” issue is annoyance.

My popping noise was heard with the glass open or closed, vent or fully open. It was easy to reproduce.

here in Canada we have a recall (J-2-21) on the sunroof frame (popping and craking noise from sunroof) pretty sure it's active for US as well

My '22 roof got really bad to the point it's constantly rattling over even relatively smooth roads. Dealer said they have ordered a replacement frame that will arrive in 1-2 weeks. Does anyone if the replacements are an updated part and fix the issue for good?

Getting mine fixed as I type this. The dealer just had to replicate it and get authorization from Acura.

I have a 2020 ASpec and my sunroof has popped since day 1 also. My driveway is sloped, so pulling straight into or backing out into the street with that body flex of partial hill partial flat is a guaranteed pop. I’ll have to show my service advisor the TSB and hope they can swap it out.. shits annoying.

Yesterday, my dealer (Spreen Acura in Riverside, CA) verified the popping noise (I would call more of a thunk) on my 2021 RDX Tech AWD I have had since purchasing the car there since day one. Recently, my garage door attacked my roof antenna and pulled it out about an inch. The dealer had quoted $1350 to fix it. Luckily for me, since they have to pull the headliner for the TSB, they are going to do the antenna fix at the same time and only charge me $350 for that. Thousand bucks saved! They have ordered the parts and hopefully next week they will do the fixes and give me a loaner car for the day.

I have the pop noise sound from the moonroof on my 2022 Rdx when the frame flex when parking etc… my only concern is can it break the glass or it just a small noise that is intermittent . I’m afraid that if I proceed with the replacement with tsb 23-004, I might have other problem as water leak, speaker problem ( speaker beside the moonroof , that will be remove with the roof linner during repair process , etc) anyone have make the tsb, the noise is really gone ? No more poping noise during small bump entering parking lot ? Thanks !

Tried to have this TSB done on my CPO 2021 and was told Acura Care wouldn't cover it. Seems ridiculous to me.
